“What is the importance of reviews?” This is one question that I get asked quite often. The truth of the matter is that it really depends. To some people the importance of reviews is so high that they simply cannot see a positive review as being any more or less important than a negative one. However, in my experience as a self-publisher and editor of several books including some really popular titles, it is important to note that a good review is just as important as a bad one.
For example, if a reviewer states that you could have a great product but that the packaging is horrible then the reviewer is dead right. The importance of reviews is a bit harder to quantify. A reviewer’s personal opinion may sway her decision to write a bad review. However, it’s also true that even a good review will be seen as worthless by some readers and thus will not sway them from purchasing your product.
